SPRINGFIELD, IL – While the popular springtime saying “April showers bring May flowers” may bring to mind the colors of the season, families can learn about the wildflowers of Illinois on Saturday, May 6 during the “WILDflowers Super Saturday” event at the Illinois State Museum in Springfield.
Children can dive into spring through activities, crafts, and games, including making seed balls to plant at home, decorating a gift bag for Mother’s Day, and learning to identify wildflowers and the parts of a flower.
Super Saturday events at the Illinois State Museum, sponsored by Bank of Springfield, offer free, thematic activities recommended for children ages 5 and up each month. Activities take 30-40 minutes to complete and feature crafts and educational games. Parents and families are encouraged to participate.
The “WILDflowers Super Saturday” event is scheduled from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on May 6.
