“Happy Birthday Illinois” Super Saturday on July 7 at the Illinois State Museum

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Illinois has a birthday coming up, and families are invited to help celebrate the state’s Bicentennial at the Illinois State Museum’s Super Saturday celebration on Sat., July 7.
As part of the Super Saturday event from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., children will have the opportunity to design a spinning top, create a noisemaker inspired by ancient Native American rattles, and play Pin the Tail on the White-tailed Deer (the state mammal). Visitors can explore the Museum's Bicentennial exhibition with a family search activity, and have a slice of birthday cake.
Each month, Super Saturdays at the Illinois State Museum – sponsored by Bank of Springfield – offer free, thematic activities recommended for children ages 5 and up. Activities take 30-40 minutes to complete and feature crafts and educational games. Parents and families are encouraged to participate.
The Illinois State Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. The Museum is located at 502 South Spring Street in Springfield.
