Tales from the Vault: The Haunted Museum

ISM-Springfield
Gertrude Abercrombie, Cat, Screen, and Ghost (detail), 1950. Museum Purchase. What does it mean to be haunted, to be visited by ghosts and spirits? Who are these ghosts that roam the vaults of our art collection? Just in time for Spooky Season, the ISM opens its vaults to reveal artworks that revel in the supernatural and otherworldly. Join art curator Doug Stapleton for a conjuring of spectral figures, haunted histories, and speculations on what lies on the other side of the veil of reality as seen through artworks in the Museum's collection. This talk covers mature themes such as violence, war, and death. Viewer discretion is advised.
