Illinois State Museum Presents Bugs! Virtual Super Saturday
Sub-Title: The Museum brings its free popular Super Saturday program to a virtual space.
ISM Location: Springfield
For Immediate Release:
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois State Museum (ISM) announces "Bugs! Virtual Super Saturday" – the first virtual event in its popular Super Saturday series – will take place online from Saturday, May 2 to Tuesday, May 5.
Families with elementary age children can join ISM over the weekend to explore the remarkable world of insects, bugs, and arachnids. "Bugs! Virtual Super Saturday" will include engaging art and science activities that families from across Illinois and beyond can do while at home.
"We hope this program will offer an opportunity for families to learn, play, and explore the natural world around them together," said ISM Interim Director of Education Elizabeth Bazan.
Everyone who completes a bug activity and shares a photo with the ISM has an opportunity to enter a drawing for a prize from Lincoln's Little Toy Shop in Springfield. Families can choose one of the recommended activities posted during the event or come up with their own. The ISM will accept entries through Tuesday, May 5, and announce winners after the event.
"Bugs! Virtual Super Saturday" is sponsored by Bank of Springfield, and is a free event open to the public. To participate, families can respond "going" to the event on the ISM Facebook page or by visiting the Museum's website at bit.ly/BugsSuperSaturdayEvent. ISM staff will update the website and Facebook event page with bug activities and facts on Saturday and Sunday.
