Central Illinois Storyteller Tells Folktales at Monthly Preschool Program Feb. 11 at Illinois State Museum

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Museum Play Date at the Illinois State Museum in Springfield will feature Central Illinois storyteller Mike Anderson on Tuesday, February 11. From 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Anderson will tell folktales from around the world paired with engaging songs and activities.
Mike Anderson is one of the most versatile folk performers and educators in the Midwest. As an author and elementary school teacher, Anderson has honed his skills as a storyteller and is one of the best yarn-spinners anywhere. Anderson also plays guitar, banjo, jaw harp, noseflute, bones, and more, though he is best known as an outstanding mountain dulcimer player. During this program of folktales, Anderson will draw on all of his talents as a storyteller and musician to bring the stories to life.
Museum Play Date takes place on the second Tuesday of each month and is recommended for children ages 3-5 with an adult. Museum Play Date is free with Museum admission and is sponsored by Bank of Springfield.

The Illinois State Museum is located at 502 S. Spring Street in Springfield. It is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 noon to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults ages 19-64.
