Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  As states come together to commemorate the  250th, Illinois has a key role to play.

The Illinois America 250 Commission was established to "develop, encourage, and execute an inclusive commemoration and observance of the founding of the United States of America, and Illinois' imperative role in the nation's history."

All people who call Illinois home - in every part of the State, and of all ages, abilities and backgrounds - have the opportunity to see themselves in the complex history of the nation's Semiquincentennial and to imagine together the future for Illinois we want to transpire over the next 250 years.

The Commission encourages people and organizations around the state to make meaning of this anniversary in their own way.

You don't need to wait for instructions or approval from the Commission to start thinking about what your organization and or your community can do that might be meaningful. Find ways to connect with the Commission below.

About the Commission

The Illinois America Commission Act was signed in May, 2022, to prepare for our state's commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Learn more about the Commission's members and why this milestone is so meaningful in the state of Illinois.

"The 250th anniversary of our nation's founding presents an opportunity for Illinoisans and Americans to consider this complex legacy and reflect on the diversity of perspectives and experiences that are often left untold."
