Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

The Illinois State Museum is temporarily closing its flagship facility to visitors beginning Thursday, August 1, 2024, to accommodate a plumbing project that will involve asbestos removal and construction. The project is expected to last three months.

Explore this history through the lens of Nancy Dobbins of Springfield, who lived with the Enos family for more than 50 years. Who were these women who served in families for extended periods of time?  What led or compelled them to stay?  What was their status within the households?  What was their lived experience like? What can the historical record tell us about Nancy Dobbins and women like her?  More importantly, where is the historical record silent?

You are welcome to bring your lunch to eat during the program, but lunch is not provided.
