This exhibition features thirteen works on paper that have come into the Illinois State Museum’s collection in the past year. Many of the works were produced in 2020 and 2021 and reflect the moment; a time of a global pandemic and a reckoning around racial violence and discrimination.
The artists featured are diverse in background and identity: Black, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous, Middle eastern, Queer. This reflects our museum’s efforts to present and collect the artistic voices and stories representative of all of Illinois. The Illinois State Museum is grateful to welcome these bold and powerful voices into our collection.
Artists include Alberto Aguilar, Gabriela Escovar, Raeleen Kao, N. Masani Landfair, Jin Lee, Mony Nunez, Osée Obaonrin, Orkideh Torabi, Eric Von Haynes, Derrick Woods-Morrow, Debra Yepa-Pappan
