The Illinois State Museum-Lockport Gallery is once again open to visitors. All visitors are asked to make a reservation in advance of their visit HERE. Admission is free. Guests are invited to make a donation to support the Museum and its programs during this time here.
To promote the safety of our visitors, and in compliance with State guidelines, all visitors (over age two who can medically tolerate a mask) are required to wear a face covering at all times. All masks must be made from a solid material, preferably with more than one layer, and cannot have exhalation valves or vents. All visitors will have their temperature taken (contactless) and answer a few health questions before entry.
The Gallery is operating at 25% of normal occupancy and is asking visitors to stay no more than 2 hours. Regular and rigorous cleaning protocols have been put in place. Exhibits have been modified to provide a contactless experience.
At this time, we are not accepting reservations for groups of more than ten visitors. All in-person special events and programs inside the Gallery have been canceled. You can connect with our ISM family by following us on Facebook. You may also visit our ISM Newsroom for updates regarding activities.
The Lockport Gallery features changing exhibitions of art created by past and contemporary Illinois artists and artisans. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, quilts, and other decorative and ethnographic arts are showcased in rotating, theme-based exhibitions augmented by interpretive materials. The exhibitions are given an added dimension through educational events, group tours, and outreach activities for both children and adults.
Hours: Tue-Sat: 10-4:00
Closed: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
