PUBLIC NOTICE
The Illinois State Museum System will reopen all of our locations effective Tuesday, January 26, 2021. The Illinois State Museum will continue to offer free admission across all locations. Hours of operations are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except for the Research and Collections Center, which will operate by appointment only Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Illinois State Museum inspires exploration of Illinois' past and present to inform and enrich everyday life and to promote stewardship of cultural and natural resources for the future. The Museum's extensive collections and research activities provide the foundation for exhibitions and public programs that tell the story of the land, life, people, and art of Illinois. The Illinois State Museum is headquartered in Springfield with branch facilities near Lewistown and Lockport.
