Paul Mickey Learning Series presented by Devin Hunter, Assistant Professor of History, UIS

Controversies over historical monuments have been in the news, from Charlottesville to Johannesburg and Chapel Hill to Belfast. We may seem immune from such conflict in the Springfield area, but this presentation imagines which local heritage sites might serve as flash points in today’s renewed culture wars. Bring your ideas for preservation, relocation, counter-memorialization, and demolition.

Each month, the Paul Mickey Learning Series features a different speaker and topic in the Auditorium at the Illinois State Museum. For additional information, please contact events@illinoisstatemuseum.org or (217) 558-6696.
